Video Transcription
The workplace is no longer what it used to be. The “ideal” workplace that loomed in our parents’ minds, with all the perks and benefits of working at a huge company, now seems distant and unreal. As time has passed, the workplace has changed and grown more competitive. And, as a result, we now face harsh truths at our workplaces. If you’re a working professional who wants to improve yourself, it’s important to have an understanding of these harsh workplace realities. Here are five harsh realities of the working world and how to deal with them.
- Most people don’t care about your goals. They care about their own goals, objectives & targets.
- You must be a good manager. You must be results-oriented, have effective communication skills, have good time management skills, be able to deal with problem employees, and be able to take constructive criticism from those who report to you.
- You must be a good leader. You must be a person of confidence, be able to make decisions, be able to delegate, be able to motivate and inspire others to do better, be able to manage your time effectively.
- Every employee can be fired. Including you. No one, not even the owner of a company is irreplaceable.
- You will sometimes regret firing an employee just as much as you will sometimes regret not having fired them sooner.
