5 Things You Can Do to Improve Company Morale

Video Transcription

Things tend to go wrong when the company morale is low. When the morale is low, it can be hard to retain and recruit new employees. The reasons for the low morale could be due to a bad manager, poor salaries, and/or a lack of job security. If you want to avoid low morale, it’s important that you focus on the happiness of the employees.

Some some signs a company has low morale include:
  • Employees complaining about the company.
  • Employees leaving at a high rate.
  • Employees picking up shifts for one another.
  • Employees not completing tasks on time.
  • There is a lot of tension in the office.

Here are five ways to improve company morale.
First, it’s important to talk to your employees. Find out what is worrying them, what they’re excited about, and what you can do to help them be more productive.
Second, keep an open-door policy. If someone wants to talk to you, they should never feel like they can’t. If your employees feel like they can come to you with their worries, you’ll know how to better help them.
Third, take the time to evaluate the workplace. If it’s not comfortable or well-lit or generally enjoyable, do something about it!
Fourth, encourage socialization. Food and drink are great for this purpose.
And finally, don’t be afraid to give rewards. Everyone loves a little recognition for a job well done.
